Certainly you haven't heard them all (and don't tell me not to call you Certainly)

I was looking for a cite for one of my favorite informal campaign slogans ("Don't change Dicks in the middle of a screw, vote for Nixon in '72") and found this. Wander around a bit and you'll find some bumper sticker slogans on any number of topics. Examples:
  • We feed upon the flesh of the living, and we vote!

  • Two Zeros in '00

  • Save the trees - wipe your butt with an owl

  • Elitism...it's not for everyone

  • Drink til she's cute but stop before the wedding.

  • 99 percent of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

  • Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things.

  • If you lived in your car, you'd be home by now

  • Is there another word for synonym?

  • What if there were no hypothetical questions?

  • Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

My favorite Nazis

Everybody should have one, especially if you're a Republican like me. I have two - Oskar Schindler and John Rabe.

Raoul Wallenberg wasn't a Nazi but his accomplishments are of a similar kind and possibly a larger scale.

Detainees freed from Guantanamo reportedly rejoining terrorists

According to this, it's true.

Alright wise guys, we know how to fix you. We'll just spread the word that you sang like birds at Gitmo and were released only because you'd been brainwashed to spy on al-Qaeda once you got back home.

Still missing

A few years ago a 23 year old woman named Amy Lynn Bradley disappeared off a cruise ship. We still don't know what has happened to her. More info here.

Why we can't all just get along

A great observation from a reader of The Corner on National Review Online
As it stands the situation on the ground may be the final validation of the Gramscian school of Marxism-- sieze control of the instruments of culture and everything else follows. If nothing else the situation over gay marriage highlights the folly of the libertarian view of culture, which seeks to simply get along and allow everyone else to do the same, while the other side is fighting to win.

A Subway with no heroes

You must remember Johnny Chung? He was the well-connected "hustler" (according to the State Department) who famously observed that the Clinton White House was like a subway: "you have to put in coins to open the gates". And open they did, to a regular zoo of literal Communists and others who wondered what other US govt favors were for sale by the Clintons and Democrats along the subway line.

What do you know? - he also greased the palms of the richest man in Congress, John F. Kerry...

Well, alright, the money went to Kerry's campaign - strictly speaking Chung didn't give money to Kerry himself. But why would Kerry want that? - the wife of this man of the people was loaded, so accepting personal bribes would have been stupid. But campaign finance laws limited how much she could Kerry him, so arguably campaign finance money was more valuable to him than any ordinary bribe.

Poor and stupid jokes

Right here.

Setting it straight

Lefties are claiming that there is a faked picture circulating that shows John Kerry with Jane Fonda. That much is true. There is one photo showing Kerry standing at a podium, and someone has added Jane Fonda at his side. But the one that shows them both in a crowd with Fonda in the foreground is for real.

I certainly hope so

US is trying to overthrow me, says Venezuelan leader Heavens, now why would want to throw out a Marxist who controls a major oil producer in the Western Hemisphere and supports Fidel Castro?

If you're interested in Venezuelan issues you probably want to check out The Devil's Excrement.

They stole my idea!

Advertising writers in Florida were planning to pitch hemorrhoid-relief products with a commercial featuring the Johnny Cash (news) classic "Ring of Fire," but Cash's family said there's no way they will let it happen.

Projection?

You might recall how Dem candidate John F. Kerry accused Vietnam veterans of innumerable atrocities during the war. Now Blackfive shows us this:
He now makes much of his decorations from the war in Vietnam, to appeal to centrists and conservatives, without reminding those audiences that he for long was a leader of Vietnam veterans against the war. Indeed, assiduous searchers, looking for his vulnerabilities, will find much of interest in that period of his life. For example, the fabled and distinguished chief of naval operations (CNO), Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, told me -- 30 years ago when he was still CNO -- that during his own command of US naval forces in Vietnam, just prior to his anointment as CNO, young Kerry had created great problems for him and the other top brass, by killing so many non-combatant civilians and going after other non-military targets.
"We had virtually to straight-jacket him to keep him under control," the admiral said. "Bud" Zumwalt got it right when he assessed Kerry as having large ambitions -- but promised that his career in Vietnam would haunt him if he were ever on the national stage.

Not the whole story

The title of the story says Children treated with stem cells. It sounds terrific.

Now let's make sure that everyone understands that the stem cells in question came from cord blood, not embryos. Therefore this has nothing to do with embryonic stem cells, and it shows what progress can be made without raising embryos just to kill them.

Tai Babilonia

Just because.

May it be his last

Today is Kim Jong-Il's 62nd birthday.

Ordinary Joe

You're not likely to see me on TV anytime soon. My best hope is in the movies, in case John Goodman ever does a nude scene and wants a body double. But there's always hope, thanks to a guy named Joe Viterelli.

You may not have heard of him, but you've probably seen him - he was an actor with a face that was, um, memorable. Check him out here, here, here, and the interview here.

Note the credits further down the page. Near as I can tell he was severely typecast as a bad guy or Mafioso, yet that's not a bad list of credits.

But there will be no more. Mr. Viterelli died of a stomach hemorrhage just a few weeks ago on January 28.
